Notes last updated Friday 4\2\14

A cold front is stalling over western Virginia this morning, and will be overtaken by an approaching warm front from our southwest later today and tonight. Your Wednesday weather will be warmer than yesterday, with highs in the Greater Richmond Metro in the mid to upper 70s. The warmer air from our southwest will reach locations south of I-64 by this afternoon, where there will also be mostly sunny skies. Highs there will be in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. A few showers are possible Wednesday afternoon far north and west of Richmond. All areas will see a better chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms on Thursday, as a weak disturbance moves through the Ohio Valley. Rain chances will continue into Friday as a strong upper-level and associated cold front sweeps through our region. I expect that cold front to have a broken line of showers and storms as it advances eastward through central Virginia Friday afternoon and early evening. Neither day, though, will be a "wash-out." You'll want to keep a small umbrella handy for those scattered showers. In the wake of that Friday front, this weekend looks dry and seasonally mild, with the warmest weather on Saturday. Cool high pressure will settle over the region on Sunday, keeping highs in mid 60s.A strong storm system will move into the area on Monday, bringing widespread moderate to heavy rain to Virginia. We'll have a period of dry weather on Tuesday, followed by more rain early Wednesday as the last of the upper-level energy clears the region.Enjoy the warmer weather the rest of this week!
